See the town map.  Water is safe in Hidalgo because it comes from a natural springs.

La Estacion - found right next to the entrance.  The easiest way to get there is to cut through the gas station as opposed to trying to make a U-turn later on.  Traditional Mexican food.  Family run business.  Try their quesadillas, beef steak tacos, hamburger, and defiantly the green sauce which they will give you.  Expect to pay less then five dollars a person for tons of food.  I have ate there 50+ times and never gotten sick.

Restaurant Express - found directly after La Estacion.  Great taco joint.  Good for breakfast and lunch.  I never really know what I am ordering but its always good.  Just point (if you don’t speak Spanish).  Never gotten sick.  Expect to pay approx. three dollars per person.

La Dolphin - I can’t remember exactly where this is right now but ask the guys at Posadas.  Best food in town.  Great sea food.  Great place for a date.  Expect to pay about nine dollars a person.

Posadas Campground - If you are looking to be lazy and have a little more cash eat here.  Good food, its at your campground, great beer and Louise (the owner) is a nice guy.  Expect to pay US prices for everything.
